Sparta String Quartet: August 23

The timeless elegance of classical music weaves a symphony of sophistication and passion, where every note tells a story at the August 23 Summer Concerts Series performance.

Loni Bach, cello; Norma Davis, viola; Mary Daly, violin; Sara D’Sa, violin

Loni Bach is the conductor of the Lakeland Strings Orchestra, the youngest orchestra of the Lakeland Youth Symphony in Morris County. She recently retired from being the orchestra director at Sparta High School, where she taught for 31 years. She attended the University of Michigan where she received her Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance and her Masters of Music in Strings Education. Loni is also an active freelance cellist and serves as the principal cellist of the New Sussex Symphony and has a private cello studio in Mendham.

Norma Davis received her B.M. from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and her M.A. from New York University. She holds degrees in violin performance, viola performance, and music education. She performs extensively throughout the tri-state area and has performed in over forty concerts in Italy and Switzerland. She teaches Orchestra and AP Music Theory at Morristown High School and plays on the worship team at Christ the King Church.

Mary Daly is the Orchestra Director at West Morris Regional High School District, where she shares her passion for music with the next generation of performers. Outside the classroom, she is an active violinist and fiddler, performing with a diverse range of ensembles. Her musical versatility spans from Western Swing and Traditional Country with Moss Henry and the Bryophytes to rock and contemporary hits with the Harmony Garage Band. Mary is also a member of both the New Sussex Symphony and the Chester Baroque Orchestra, reflecting her deep roots in classical and chamber music.  

Sara D’Sa maintains an active freelance career as violin soloist/chamber musician for weddings, church functions, private events and recording projects. She is a regular member of both the Adelphi Orchestra and Baroque Orchestra of NJ and is also affiliated with the Orchestra of Saint Peter by the Sea, Livingston Symphony and a number of string chamber ensembles.  Sara has a background in music education and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University where she graduated with academic honors. Sara is the owner of Stirling Strings LLC based in Long Hill Township. 

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and coolers and join us in this wonderful pristine setting. Pets on leashes are permitted. Music begins at 4pm, gates open at 3pm. Parking is limited, so please arrive early. Gates open one hour before showtime.
